Scar Treatment
Scars are individual, and there is rarely one treatment that is right for every scar.
A consultation is required before any treatment at Good Things Clinic, view our consultation options here.
At Good Things Clinic, scar treatment begins with a detailed assessment of the type, depth, age, location and characteristics of your scar. From this, a personalised treatment plan is created using the techniques most appropriate for your skin.
Treatment may be suitable for:
- Acne scarring
- Post injury or trauma scars
- Surgical scars
- C section scars
- Depressed or tethered scars
- Uneven texture associated with scarring
Our aim is to improve the appearance, texture and quality of the scar and surrounding skin through progressive treatment and skin remodelling.
How Do We Treat Scarring?
Scar treatment may involve a combination of regenerative treatments, subcision and LED light therapy, depending on how your scar presents.
Regenerative Scar Treatment
Our regenerative approach may incorporate microneedling with Purasomes exosomes and polynucleotide treatments, either individually or as part of a combined treatment programme.
Microneedling with Purasomes Exosomes
Professional microneedling creates controlled microchannels within the skin, stimulating the natural repair response and supporting collagen and elastin remodelling.
Where appropriate, microneedling can be combined with Purasomes, an advanced exosome treatment containing 20 billion exosomes and 20 growth factors. Purasomes are delivered to the skin through microneedling and are designed to support cellular communication, tissue repair and regeneration, collagen synthesis and overall skin quality.
This combination can be particularly valuable where treatment is focused on improving scar texture and supporting the quality of the surrounding skin.
Polynucleotides
Polynucleotides are injectable regenerative treatments that may also be incorporated into your scar treatment programme.
They are used to support cellular repair, hydration, collagen production and overall tissue quality, helping to create an environment that supports progressive skin remodelling.
Depending on your scar, polynucleotides may be used alone or alongside other treatments. Purasomes can also be used alongside polynucleotides as part of a combined regenerative approach where appropriate.
The treatment or combination recommended will depend entirely on your individual assessment.
Subcision
For certain depressed or tethered scars, subcision may be incorporated into your treatment plan.
Some scars are held down by fibrous bands beneath the skin, creating a depressed or indented appearance. Subcision involves carefully releasing these attachments beneath the scar, allowing the area to remodel over time.
It is particularly relevant to certain types of atrophic acne scarring but is not appropriate for every scar.
LED Light Therapy
LED light therapy may also be incorporated into your scar treatment programme to support the skin during healing and recovery.
It can be used alongside regenerative treatments and other scar procedures where appropriate.
Acne Scar Treatment
Acne scarring can present in several different forms, and it is common for more than one type of scar to be present at the same time.
For this reason, your treatment may involve a combination of approaches rather than one treatment alone.
Depending on your assessment, your plan may include microneedling with Purasomes exosomes, polynucleotides, subcision and LED light therapy.
If active acne is still present, this will also be considered as part of your wider treatment plan.
C Section, Surgical & Post Injury Scars
Scarring following surgery or injury can continue to change considerably as the tissue heals and matures.
Once appropriately healed, C section, surgical and post injury scars can be assessed to determine whether treatments such as microneedling, regenerative treatments and LED light therapy may be suitable.
Treatment is tailored according to how the scar has healed, its texture and the surrounding tissue.
Investment
Investment is tailored to your individual treatment plan.
Scar treatment may involve a combination of microneedling with Purasomes exosomes, polynucleotides, subcision and LED light therapy.
The cost of your treatment programme will therefore depend on the treatments and treatment bundle recommended following your consultation.
Your complete treatment plan and associated investment will always be discussed with you before treatment begins.
Frequently asked questions
Can all scars be treated in the same way?
No. Scars vary considerably in their type, depth, texture and underlying structure.
Your scar will be assessed first so that we can determine which treatments, if any, are appropriate for you.
Can you treat acne scars?
Yes. Treatment plans can be created for different types of acne scarring.
Depending on the type of scars present, your programme may combine microneedling with Purasomes exosomes, polynucleotides, subcision and LED light therapy.
Can you treat C section scars?
Yes, once the scar has healed sufficiently it can be assessed for treatment.
The approach will depend on how the scar has healed and may focus on improving its texture, tissue quality and overall appearance.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Scar treatment is usually progressive rather than a one off treatment.
The number of sessions required will depend on the type and severity of your scarring, the treatments included within your plan and how your skin responds.
Your progress will be reviewed throughout your treatment journey so that your plan can be adapted as your skin changes.
What are exosomes?
Exosomes are microscopic particles involved in communication between cells. They transport biological signals including growth factors, nucleic acids, cytokines and lipids.
Purasomes combine 20 billion exosomes with 20 growth factors and can be delivered to the skin through professional microneedling to support repair and regenerative processes.
What is the difference between polynucleotides and exosomes?
Both may be incorporated into a regenerative scar treatment plan, but they are different treatments.
Polynucleotides are injectable treatments used to support cellular repair, hydration and tissue quality from within the skin.
Purasomes exosomes are delivered through microneedling and support cellular communication and the skin’s regenerative response.
Depending on your scar, one or both may be recommended.
What is subcision?
Subcision is an advanced technique used for certain depressed or tethered scars.
It involves carefully releasing fibrous attachments beneath the scar that are pulling the skin downwards, allowing the area to remodel progressively.
Will scar treatment completely remove my scar?
No treatment can guarantee complete removal of a scar.
Our aim is to improve the appearance, texture and quality of the scar and surrounding skin, with improvement developing progressively throughout your treatment programme.
How will I know which treatment I need?
You do not need to choose a scar treatment yourself.
Your consultation allows us to assess the scar, understand its history and create a personalised treatment programme based on what is most appropriate for you.
Why does the price vary?
Scar treatment is highly individual.
One patient may require predominantly microneedling, while another may benefit from a programme combining regenerative treatments, subcision and LED light therapy.
Your investment therefore reflects the personalised treatment pathway created for your scar.
